if you get Cataclysm it should contain all the previous expansions with it.
Edit** They came with wotlk, I did not have burning crusade when I bought it and I was able to travel and level in the outlands. Either way you should contact the WOW customer support to find out for sure
What do you think? Answer below!
You don’t need to install TBC and WoLK to install cataclysm, but you’ll have a rather hard time leveling from 60-80 without those two expansions.
You don’t get the other expansions for free when buying cataclysm. You can’t go to any of the new areas without the expansion that created them.
You have to…play the expansions in order. I’ve not heard of anyone being able to skip adding an expansion to their account. (Think if you are stuck @ level 60, what good will an expansion that only allows leveling from 70 to 80? You have to reach 70 before it can help.)
Installation does not matter UNLESS you have upgraded your account to an expansion. Once you add BC to your account, you can only log in on a comp that also has (@ least up to) BC installed. You can have expansions installed on your comp w/out upgrading your account, you just still can not access the expansion features (ie races & zones). (Hence my installing LK on family members’ comp when they didn’t have it. It didn’t effect their play @ all, but now I can log in on their comps too.)
You do not have to have expansions to play classic WoW, you just will not be able to go beyond that. (Although, I have to admit, I’m not sure how Cata will effect classic w/ the redoing of the old zones.)
